Solution for App rejection based on IDFA PLA 3.3.12

For those who get their app's rejected based on following line.

"PLA 3.3.12

We also found your app uses the iOS Advertising Identifier but does not include ad functionality."

Solution:
It's pretty easy, Apple's reviewer started to be more picky.

If you only use iAds and you selected in iTunes to "serve ads within this app" via checkbox you will get rejected.
iAds does not require you to check it, it is only for other services like Chartboost etc.

The reviewers did not reject apps which anyways had the IDFA active some months ago, but now they do.

So if you only use iAds do not check it, your iAd ads will appear anyway.

@BigDave‌ -- So we should check IDFA, but not "serve ads within this app"?

Or not check IDFA at all?

    Thanks!

Great, good to know. I have currently some apps pending, but they will probably get rejected for this, so good to know how to avoid it.

Too bad I can't change this while it's in review.

    Thanks!

I had the same problem. I immediately contacted apple review team and told them that the app does in fact have ads in it. It went back into review and was accepted 25 min later. They hadn't played game long enough Ad shows up after hitting menu button they didnt hit menu button in there 30 sec playthrough.

    Hope this works for you

jeah have 4 new apps approved which where previously rejected, by unchecking all IDFA options. The iAd works fine without.

    @abdulla1‌
if you only use iAds no other ads. You will be rejected with checked IDFA. But maybe you are lucky.

Yeah i am using iAds only.
Ok i will wait and see :(

@bktennis12‌ -- did you just comment on the rejection, or submit an actual appeal?

Hello @ryanavent‌ -- the second one is correct. The first one will get you a rejection.

Having looked into it, I realized that when using iAds, you yourself aren't in fact using the IDFA; that's only when you use other advertisers. You need to select these options in case of using another service to certify that the ads you will be serving comply with Apple's rules. If you are using iAds, your ads automatically comply with the rules, since they are served by Apple. ;)

What if you are serving adverts but the reviewer keeps supposedly seeing black screen and works fine in adhoc seems to be they are not waiting long enough for the adverts to load? grr

These reviewers need to tell us there name etc as someone can easily reject your app because they do not like you which has just happend to me and I guess a few others have had this to. for example rejecting screenshots that are already approved...

That is quite unlikely. The reviewers know nothing about you, and each of your apps/upgrades/uploads is reviewed by a different person.

The black screen was a an issue at one point (not that long ago). Is the binary you submitted not from since then? Do you have a splash screen (I very much recommend having one, even if it is just a small image or text in the middle of the screen, it makes it clear the app is loading and looks 1000% more professional than a black screen)?

As for the rejected screenshots -- the reason they gave was that the screenshots are not relevant. Is that true or not? Do the screenshots faithfully represent the app? It doesn't matter if they were approved once, maybe that was a really lenient reviewer. What matters is how they stack up against FACT, right here and now.

    Hi,

Does anybody know how I can edit my IDFA settings. They rejected two of my games but I can not find a way to get back and change the settings which BigDave found to be the reason for this rejection. Can anybody help? Otherwise I will have to delete my apps and submit it as a new app.

Hope to hear from some of you GS-gurus.

You must upload a new binary or delete and submit as new app. One of my games was rejected also for this. The other one got through though. Weird!
