Is there any standard for using consistent music styles within a game?

I mean if i can put different stiles of music in a videogame, for example in a scene music of guitar, in other scene piano, in other scene, classic rock organ, etc.
I think that in a videogame all the music stiles must be the same, but i´m not sure.

Yes , i know but there must be an standard, for example in locoroco, you can´t put for example music of acdc, or flamenco, isn´t it?

Perhaps 'rule' isn't the word you were looking for. Are you asking which tends to work best: keeping music in the same style throughout the game or changing the style frequently?

Well, there's clearly not a standard when there are so many available games and each is often different from the next. What do you prefer when you play a game? What patterns have you noticed about music in games? I'd say I expect musical style to be consistent across different scenes in a game but if there was a good reason to switch styles based on the content of the game, then I don't see a problem with that.

well, i´m using the garage band of ipad to create music, and i don´t know if garage band is the best program to create 2d games, and also the game i´m creating is difficult for music because all the game is with spawning platforms, and the music must be with sounds because the spawning platforms are destroyed every second

Garageband iPad is fine, a bit limited, but you should be able to produce useable music with it.

No, it's not the best, like I say it's pretty limited. You can leave '2D games' out of this equation, music is music, there isn't a specific style of music that is required for games, let alone 2D games, you can use whatever type of music you like.

    Makes no sense.

You can leave 'games' and '2D games' and 'GameSalad' out of these questions, there is no specific type of music for GameSalad or Unity or Corona or a specific type of music for games in general, nor is there a certain kind of software best suited for people who use GameSalad, use whatever software you like to make your music, you can record an acoustic guitar into your iPhone, use ProTools or Logic X or spend £3,000 on a session with a 20 piece orchestra recorded to 2" tape, it doesn't matter where the music comes from and there are no rules as to how you use it !

If Garage Band is limited, can you recommend me another one?
