Hi there,

I've got a little problem. (For me its a big problem) When I place a picture into the scene its really small. It hasn't its original size. A picture which is 480*320 is only 115*76. Can you helm me to fix this. Last time I placed the picture it worked correctly in GS.

Did you place the picture on an actor that was already sized to 115x76?

Hi alexulle, or it could be that you've saved your 480x320 pic as a res. of 300. When you import it into GS, this converts it to 72, I think, so it reduces the image to under a quarter of the size required.

    :-)

That is stupid! DPS has NO meaning unless you are printing, what kind of idiot would scale the image based on the DPS? ROFL.... You really need to learn the science of digital image processing if you fail to understand

No, I did't. I tried it again in an new and empty scene. But its the same. the size isn't realy 115x76. Its something like 115.12x76.32. The picture in the inspector also shows this size. But I safed it 320x480. When I put it bag to 320x480 the picture lose its sharpness by placing it on the scene

I've just made a new picture and saw that the Pixel per Inch where set to 299.--- I put it back to 72. Now it works. I don't know why it had that grazy value. Maybe I pressed a wrong key.

    Thanks for help.

PPI and DPI mean nothing unless you are printing, idiots!

Noobs, read about DPI and you will understand that it ONLY pertains to printing, changing the DPI will NOT change how large the image will be on a monitor.

    Christ you are dumb...

That's right, tamer1; back in your cage now.

This is true. But read about game-making applications like GameSalad and you will understand that PPI is very relevant when importing into them. GS, for instance, will change the PPI to 72, if it's not imported as that. And by reducing the resolution, this reduces the size accordingly. (Or increases the size if the PPI is smaller than 72). A small point here which I'm sure you know: DPI = PPI but one term is used in printing, the other for computer screens. No one would lose sleep if you used the "wrong" one though.

But of course you don't believe me, as I am a noob and dumb, and you are obviously an expert on everything.

PS Good advice chosenonestudios but the temptation to reply was too strong.... ;-)
