Thanks for the reply. Sorry if these are very newbie questions but up until now I've only published to Android for which I just use 600x1024 and it's been working great.
As a general rule do people generate a separate version of their apps for iPad, iPhone etc each at the correct resolution for each device or is there some special trick to publishing once and covering all bases? This is something I have really struggled to understand and find any help for.

I'm pretty sure, yes. And I think they'll reject it if it doesn't support iPhone 5 resolution.
