Problem with Interactive Text Game

Ok! I've been playing with this idea for some time and I can't quick get it to work in gamesalad...

I am trying to make a game where you type in things using keyboard input and it affects the world around you.
For some reason, GS does not like this.

Right now, I'm telling GameSalad to put the user keyboard input into a text attribute.
Then a rule says: When the text attribute contains a certain word or phrase, another attribute is triggered.

For some reason, it works with numbers but not text.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Ex: User types in "red". Block next to them turns red.
