Do I need Restore Purchases button if I only have Consumable IAP?

AJaymzAJaymz Member, PRO Posts: 164

I hear a lot of people saying their app was rejected for not having a Restore Purchases in their game. I only have Consumable IAPs and no Non-Consumable purchases. So do I still need a button? If so, does the button need to do anything since it's not restoring any Non-Consumables? Possibly just make it have a button press noise or something? I'm just trying to avoid a rejection. Thanks in advance!

You need a button if you have IAP period.

I disagree here. If the only purchases in the game are consumable (which are not restored with a restore purchases action), such a button is pointless, and will not be required. In fact, if there is just a button that makes a click sound, but says restore purchases, that might lead to a rejection.

I am pretty sure you only need it if you have non-consumables. In one of my games I even have it set to be hidden if the only non-consumable is for sure purchased and activated. They found that acceptable.

I always put one in so if people remove the game and decide to reinstall it at some point they can easily restore what they bought.

    You cannot restore consumable IAPs.

I understand that. Most games have ads so you usually have at least one non consumable.

Yes but the question specified this case:

If there is no non-consumable IAP, then the game won't get rejected for not having a restore button, as the button would be without any real function, so the honest answer to the question is no.

Thanks for the input everyone. Yes, there is absolutely no non-consumable IAP in my game. The button would be pointless. So I can chance having it rejected for a button that don't do anything or chance having it rejected for not having a button at all. Wow, gotta think on this one. lol

If for any reason they rejected for not having a button (which is highly unlikely), just write them in Resolution Center that there are no non-consumables and they will look into it.

If they reject it for a button that doesn't do anything, you cannot do anything else but resubmit.

No, there will be no ads in the game. I'm doing consumable IAP for revenue and the game will be free to play.

IAP without the option of removing ads? I don't know about other people but that would piss me off and deter me from buying anything or even playing.

Sometimes I feel like people don't actually read each other's posts and come in with a predefined thing they want to say instead.

No ads in the game means no need for an option to remove them (as they don't exist in the first place).

    My mistake then, i apologize.

Got my answer. Apple approved my game without a restore button. Since I don't have any non consumables, only consumables.
