Which retro system would you most like to see "emulated"?

Hi guys,
I have planned out a new retro game and I want to do it in the style of a particular console/computer, rather than just a general pseudo retro look.
This got me thinking... I am a massive fan of the C64 and SMS but I realise that there could be a wider audience out there for consoles such as NES (I am making an 8-Bit style game, so we'll ignore the later consoles).
So, which system would you like to see replicated in a new game? I want to make it as authentic as possible, so that the game could easily run on the actual hardware (though that will never happen, unless I learn to code in ASM. lol).
I have also left out the earlier 8 bit consoles as I want to concentrate on the golden era of 8-bit.

Hi @POLYGAMe either Sega Master System or the Megadrive, I'd choose...
Wondering why Atari STFM is missing from your list - I guess their games weren't as popular as the Comm.64?

Nope, because it's 16-bit, as is the Mega Drive
Huh? Cheetah?
Aah, got it, thanks!

Loved my Master System..Out Run and Space Harrier along with a game simply called The Ninja and Ghost House were the 1st lot of games i got for it.

Shadows Peak is an atmospheric psychological horror that explores the dark side of a player.
I spent many happy hours playing Sorcery+, Batman and Barbarian on my C64, so that gets my vote.
