"" / ' ' - How do I put quotation marks into a DISPLAY TEXT behaviour in Game Salad (from a table?)

Hi,

I'm adding in a bunch of dialog and narrative text into my RPG from table cells.

But quotations marked (" or ') both don't appear correctly.

The double quotes seem to double up each time they appear.

And if I use single quotes, the ones at the beginning of lines don't appear at all, while the ones later in sentences seem to work fine.

Anyone solved this problem?

Upon further inspection, the single quotes aren't importing into Game Salad at the beginning of each line. They never make it across from the CSV to the Game Salad table format.

    Could that please be fixed?

The double quotes get multiplied to two double quotes when importing into the Game Salad table.

    What's going on here?!??

I'm really not sure how to work around this problem.

Maybe it's a problem with Excel, actually. It maybe removes the characters in Excel in some cases. Oh, I don't know.

Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone had this problem, and come up with a workaround?

I opened the CSV file directly in CODA, and edited it there, and got it working as I wanted.

I notice the CSV format itself uses " symbols to begin and end each cell, to delineate the breaks between cells. So I guess it doesn't like me using " symbols in my text as well!

I've decided to use single quotes instead, but it's still not working for me if I use Excel. It still chops off any single quotes used as the first character in a cell.

Guess I'll try to find another spreadsheet application that handles that better.

Or perhaps a code editor will line numbers might do the job.
