Funny I read the other day that amazon had only sold 38 thousand Fire Phones.

Isn't Amazon selling those fire phones for 99 cents now? I could swear I read that somewhere...

I just can't see many of these being users switching platforms. The iPhone is miles behind android in specs (not to start a specs war) but also in my opinion functionality. I've had an android since 09, and have owned an iP5 for development purposes. When I had to use the ip5 for a few weeks after breaking my s3, I couldn't stand it. How apple still is selling a phone with 1gb of ram, no expandable storage, a random 750p resolution, 8mp camera.. it's beyond me.

I'm very glad from a development perspective that iOS still has a foothold in the U.S., because iOS generates more for devs, but I just really don't understand it.

I think the problem is too many Android phones with Apple theres just the new model and the old ones fade away

They are a nice phone no doubt - I like the feel of the iPhone 6 - Replaced my Samsung S5 in a heartbeat.

I think phones are at the stage were specs don't bother me. I want to make a call and play a few games and use the internet. Apple offers me that, in an easy, stress free way. Android devices have more actions required to the same thing, and I rather have stress free and easy than to be able to customise certain aspects of my phone.

Part of me hurts inside.. I love my s5. I understand the simplicity of the iOS ecosystem, but the barriers of it are simply unnecessary. I personally know many iPhone users who have to delete apps/pictures just to take more pictures, let alone delete half their storage just to install ios8. Another thing in iOS is the app settings. In an android app, each app has individual settings. In IOS, a lot of settings are held in the settings menu. Which is an extra step compared to android.

Not trying to bash your decision at all just.. I hope the s5 went to a good home. :#

Edit: forgot to add. the iPhone does have a nice form factor and the fingerprint sensor is a heck of a lot better. So I see the upside there

The iPhone is actually really really neat! I like how thin it is and the screen is the perfect size!

Yes, that is quite annoying, but it comes down to the fact that those users were probably lazy to connect the phone to a computer for the update.

But at least they can update to the latest version of the OS, which you cannot say about Android users.

Though that is a choice made by developers. I agree it's weird, especially as there is almost no consistency, but you can hardly blame Apple and iOS for that.

I think if you focus only on number tech specs, you are missing a lot. If you look at benchmark tests, the iPhones fare very well compared to the competition.

As far as cameras go, I prefer 100% the iPhone cameras, which have higher light sensitivity and reactivity. There is very good reason Apple is not taking part in the Mega Pixel race, and I applaud them for it. Most people who champion high MP as the defining factor of what a good camera is, simply know absolutely nothing about photography (and by that I don't mean they can't frame a photo well, but that they don't understand photography as a technology, a craft).

At the end of the day, it also comes to what you are accustomed to as a user. I tried an Android phone and couldn't stand it. But that comes down to what you expect from your device. I cannot make a statement saying Android phones are crap (though some are, objectively speaking), all I can say that some things are done differently and you need to choose what suits YOU better. For 10+ million people, that's an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus. Some of them definitely are Android switchers, as I personally know a lot of people who were just waiting for a bigger display before switching. But a majority are upgrading from an older iPhone (or selling the phones into China).
