How to control the camera?

I had an App where I controlled the camera position by adding and taking away numbers in the X value to get it to slide left and right (interpolated the value to get it to slide). Works perfectly.
This system no longer seems to work when I update the file to the latest stable build of GS (all sorts of sliding chaos incurs). Any thoughts or suggestions on how to fix it - perhaps use an actor position to control the camera?
