That said, it's probably best to ask questions like this on the person's website or YouTube, you are likely to get better answers (or watch more of his videos, where you see other shots of the device).
It's worth mentioning that the Native Instruments Maschine is not pre-programmed with samples, doing that programming is the user's job. The apps however are more simple of nature and are usually pre-programmed with some default samples.
