Stopping motion when touch screen button is released?

Uppy83Uppy83 Member Posts: 5

Hi guys, I'm still working on my proof of concept puzzle game, I have a tray at the bottom of the screen that slides left and right when either the left side or right side of the screen is pressed and it works great, but I want to refine the controls so that the tray stops when a finger is removed from the touchscreen. At the minute it slides all the way to the edge before stopping.

I'm a complete newbie at this and only creating the demo as a proof of concept so any help would be appreciated.

Thank you :)

PS I think this is the wrong section, sorry.

Try to use "otherwise" in your rule. For example, when right side button is pressed --> change velocity to 200 -->otherwise, change velocity to 0.

I think that solves the problem.

way to be helpful and not at all a douche.... ;)

I posted a comment, but on reflection didn't think it would be any help in your particular situation so I removed the post. When I posted I was the first and only person to take the time to offer you help, so I'm not sure why that would lead you to want to insult me ?

I see you are fairly new to the forums, the community here is pretty helpful, lots of people take time out their day to offer help to others, you'll sometimes get long and detailed posts walking you through an issue or concept that you have asked about, sometimes you'll get just a brief (but useful) answer, and sometimes people will even take the time to make example projects to help you out, all for free, lots of people willing to help you out for nothing, all in all the forum is a pretty useful resource, it's where I learnt how to use GameSalad, but I can't honestly imagine people being too keen to help you out if you start name calling by your fourth post.

to be fair, it does look to ANYONE like you posted ".............." which looks like kind of...y'know...a bit snarky. As you have clarified, I have removed my comment. And I apologize for misunderstanding. However, if I see someone being seemingly snide to me for no reason, I see nothing wrong in putting a humorous and light hearted reply pointing it out.

Of course it doesn't, how on earth do you interpret some dots as a snarky remark ?

And how are you speaking for anyone ('ANYONE') other than yourself !?

By calling them a 'douche' ?

These snarky and snide remarks, where there is no evidence of them, are all in your head.

Anyhow, no harm done, I'm not in charge here, you can act as you please, if you suspect that some dots, or a dashed line, or a broken URL or even a small picture of a spider is a personal attack against you then respond as you please, I was just pointing out that people are often less willing to help out a forum user who is so ready to insult others for the crime of trying to actually help them.

P.S. you cannot make an empty post, the Vanilla software forces you to include at least some body text, people deleting posts often post 'delete this' or '---' or whatever, I usually just tap a few dots out, I'm not the only one who does this.
