How do you build the tracks? Is it possible to move the camera a round to place actors? I can't seem to find a way to do that. lol.

Thanks Funk, no worries on the plug, you've been kind enough to build the site for this community so we need to make sure we do our bit in advertising it.

@poly, i build the tracks using the tables/desks. I set the scene size and just scroll through it bulding the tracks how i wanted them. There is only one control camera behaviour and thats on your character.

@p-o-m, glad you like the look of it, i just need to adjust the controls a bit as the new update has changed the feel of them slightly, once thats sorted it will be submitted so fingers crossed, not too long now.

Excellent video, beefy_clyro! Really well done. Office racing looks fun to play too; here's hoping you get lots of sales.

Two things came to mind though: firstly, If you haven't got permission to use the video soundtrack, Once you're game gets out there into "the big wide world", especially on a site like the App Store, record companies wouldn't think twice of either suing you, asking for royalty payments of a sort or getting your app removed from the app store, if they heard you'd used it without permission. A friendly warning there; it might never happen, but perhaps you can't be too careful... After all that, p'haps you've bought the usage rights from a music website somewhere...

The other thing is that as professional as your video is, almost 3 and a half minutes is far too long...people have got short attention spans nowadays...and to put it into perspective, I think your vid is longer than that for the iPhone4! And making it shorter, perhaps even half the length it is now, would make it even snappier than it is already.

Hope you don't mind me mentioning these things...

@Gyro, thanks for the feedback, its much appreciated. Im hopeful this game will do reasonably well, only time will tell i guess.

    1. Yes the music in the video is licensed. No worries about mentioning, its good to see people looking out for each other.

    2. I think i have to tend to agree with you about the length. I am planning on making a cut down version over the weekend to somewhere between a minute and 2minutes ish. As for being bigger than the iphone 4 advert, did you not realise this is going to be bigger? haha.

I'll def make a cut down version, thanks for your advice

Nice looking video, I do agree though it's a bit long, but nonetheless it looks good, and so does the game. The graphics looks great as well, did you make them?

My one criticism is that it looks a tiny bit too slow to entertain me as if it were a racing game.

Looks great though and I hope it does well.

    Mon the Beefy!

i thought it was a bit long when i did it so def plan on making a shorter version. The vid does make it look slow-ish but if it was any quicker you wouldnt be able to control very well around the courses. The speed feels right for in-game play, grab a promo and check it out when its released. Now if i do an iPad version i think i'll be able to do faster play as you could see more of the course.

Mon the beefy ... nice pickup :)

I was just thinking that about the course actually, maybe a slower speed would suit the challenge of navigating around the office. Looks like a nicely polished game and I'll be sure to grab a promo if I've get round to creating an American account before it's released.

You're not the only fan here :P

Oh and i never answered your other question, the graphics were the fantastic work of ian from debug design.

Gotta love the biff but not so much these days, preferred the early days

Ok ... i've made a shorter version of the video, its still about 2.30 ish though, could i grab some opinions on it? Does it work at that length? Is it still too long? Does it try and cover too much? Does it make you want more? etc etc. Thanks

Excellent top down racer beefy reminds me a lot of micro machines (made by codemasters ) back in the sega days.

Those graphics by debug are great... Debug if you read this you really should make a stock gallery with scenes and spites etc where people can buy your images (as opposed to having to contact you and work on a project at a time) I think the whole micro payments for images is heaps better. And I would love to give back to the community as opposed to giving all my money to graphic river or istockphoto ( btw check out graphic river.. It is actually amazing)

Thanks MightyBoosh, ah dude ... i absolutely loved micro machines :)

Debug is the man! The stock idea might be a good one. Checking out graphic river, very good, cheers
