Fair point and I'm going to stick to that as many will , but surely out of the thousand+ who enter many will be starting now and these will probably win because they have more time , will pewds release more information on the days?
People assign this guy too much power. Just because one game he played was a hit doesn't mean any game he plays is a hit. Flappy Bird was a success partly due to him, but it took more than his video to launch it to the heights it reached. It tapped into nostalgia, was enjoyably frustrating, simple and accessible etc.

True but he has that jump start power that indies need, his 31 million+ subscribers 'should' at least give people several thousand downloads or views of their portfolio page. Social media is a powerful thing and the people that took the time to build their fanbase are sort of like mini gods with the power to make or break the weaker indie developers. optimistic mode off

However since there is a free for all voting system, I'm not even going to try since it will probably be the developer team with the most social media pull that gets the most votes anyway. -_-
@HipsterShot, I'm sure some people will start early and cheat. Sadly that is how life is, it's a choice not to do such things. Sounds like you're making the right choice (in my opinion at least).

I just spent some time looking at his channel. Wow. He produces truly, truly horrendous stuff. And he's got 31m subscribers. It's insane. I assume a massive proportion of them are in the 8-12yo age bracket? I don't say that as an insult, but an observation that should perhaps be kept in mind when trying to appeal to his audience.

Lol yeah, his channel is very odd... You would think that his audience is < 12 but everyone that told me about him were 21-30... I thought his audience included gamers that enjoyed horror but I'm not sure anymore.

I'll never understand YouTube or popular opinion. I'm a crotchety old man in my 30s...

The honor system. That's why most game jams don't reveal the theme until it starts...
The spirit of honesty and playing fair.
