Just a quick question that I hope some of you answer....

Who out there utilizes garage band for their in game music or sound effects? I am just wondering what everyone is using and if there is a better alternative (I do like garage band I just wanted to know if anyone out there had a wealth of knowledge they would like to share).

Thanks.

I have no wealth of knowledge! (as usual!).

But, I do like using garageband. I'm making all the music for one of my games with it.

And while it won't be as polished as something you can buy by someone else, it's a personal game, so making the music myself kinda fits :D

Some people like to use the loops from garageband as they're royalty free to use in whatever you make.

    Cheers,

    QS

Hey goliath, Im usin garageband for my game music Used to use music x and a DX7 in the amiga days, moved onto steinberg pro on the atari st with roland synths, then cubase on the pc with a Korg X3 and m audio stage piano. Now im on a mac, I tried GB and it does everythin I need it to and more. Very happy with it!! I play keyboard / piano in a band, and have drummed for years. (Have a roland TD9) I have all the kit to record my own stuff, but the GB loops have covered everythin I have needed so far!! The jam packs or whatever they are called are a bit pricey tho... £80?? No ta!!

I also use soundbooth to edit and process spot effects like crashes, button presses etc.

Cant think of any alternative software that would compare in price, I would go with GB!!

ditto as per jstrahan's answer. Even though I've Logic Express, I still turn to GarageBand more often than not and find that the audio quality is just fine.

A tip here as well, if you didn't know: GS recommend that sounds use in iDevices should be 22kHz and in mono, especially if you have a lot of sound going on in your game. For getting my tracks to that, I use Audacity.

    :-)
