Getting my balls in a row

I have a scene with about forty actors (balls) on the stage. I just dragged them into the scene willy-nilly. When I press the play arrow in the editor window, gravity takes over and they stack up nicely between a couple of walls I put in.

Now the question: is there a way I can use the pause button in the window and say, more or less, "this should be the placement of my <insert joke here>"?

Use accelerate in the actors instead of gravity. When pause is pressed, turn off the acceleration and change x & y velocity to 0.
