Wipeout Clones

Hey!

One of my favorite games on the PSP was Wipeout, I was surprised and happy to see that there were quite a few Wipeout clones for Android (eg: Turbofly). After doing a little reading and learning of GS (I want to eventually make a few games that I would like to play myself) I'm wondering if anyone here has made a wipeout clone using GS (or is it even possible to do so using GS)?

Cheers!

I doubt GS has anything close to making wipeout. GS is severely limited to 2D type games. I have seen some very good veterans of GS make some demos that I think are refered to as 2.5D. Wipeout was an awesome game...I originally played it on Playstation 1st Gen. Fun game.

Ha! You're like me :) Loved it on the PS so got it on the PSP as well and used to play it everyday on my way to work... the only bother was when I had to get off to actually walk the last part to my office and I had not completed my level :p
Check out "turbofly" in the android marketplace (full disclosure: I am in no way affiliated with the makers of that game) it's a decent clone and pretty smooth but not as large as the original, I'm sure you will enjoy it, worth the two bucks anyway (they also have a free version).

Now I'm really curious as to what software is being used to make those games/clones... :(

It would probably be a game maker utilitizing 3D models, I believe. Like Unity or UDK. I imagine it takes great skillz to learn to do that.

I used to program in Java a while back, and program in Python/PHP now, I heard of Unity but settled onto GS as Unity seemed like overkill for what I had in mind. Maybe after I finish with my little game/s I need to put Unity back on my hope-to-do list ;)
