Note To Self: Save Regularly

edited November -1 in Working with GS (Mac)
Just lost 4 hours of work after opening Photoshop. I think GameSalad ran out of memory and had a dummy spit.

Better learn to save often.

I was doing so well too :(

Oww, sorry to hear that. :-(

Did you scream? I would have done!

    :-)

PS I didn't vote in your poll, Tris, cos I save every four of five changes...
PPS might Gendai be able to recover the file for you somehow? Maybe worth a try?

Saving often is the single best piece of advice I can give. And now you know why, Tris - sorry for your loss :(

As I write, Project K is up to version 9_7 - this means there are 97 iterations of the game on my hard drive. I don't save after *every* change but after a few. If I feel GS is getting slow I save immediately, shut down GS, then start it up again.

Best of luck getting back to where you were!

When you have OCD as severely as I do, hitting Apple + S every time you make a change is easy; thank God.

Sorry you lost your stuff :(

I decide on my project name i.e SpaceBash, then create a folder called SpaceBashProject_A. I then save my preliminary version as soon as it takes shape i.e SpaceBash_A-1 and from then on I save it after any major addition to the code, ie SpaceBash_A-2, SpaceBash_A-3, SpaceBash_A-4.

Sure, I end up with a folder full of files but they're not huge, hard drive space is not a worry and every so often I go in there and cull all the older versions and create a new folder, SpaceBash_B. From then on it's ie SpaceBash_B_1 onwards etc.
