Point&Click adventure game

Hello,
I'm making graphics for my game, it will be a classic point&click adventure game in 2D. I know that I have to make characters and collectible items on separate pictures, and put them into the game later, in GameSalad as actors. But what should I do if I want to have many interactive points on background (like in 1112 episode 01 or 02), have I make every interactive object in separate picture, or there is an option in GameSalad to make interactive fields on the screen, so when player click on this field, he'll see a reaction in the game?

You can do it all in one picture and use invisible actors to trigger items. You could even use them to spawn new images over the background for animations etc, like when someone touches a chest of drawers, the invisible actor that they touch would spawn an animation or picture of the open drawers. Would be fairly simple and straightforward in GS :)

Thank you for your reply :) It was very helpful.

I have one more question - what about intro and outro for the game? Can I import my movie to GameSalad, or there is special function in it, to make movies? If I can import premade movie, what type should it be? Avi?

I'm asking, because I used to have Windows, and I'm going to buy Mac in few next weeks, so I can't check these things myself in GameSalad.

    Gamesalad does not support movies.

You can have a series of .png images to simulate a movie, but it would probably be better to animate everything within gamesalad.

Hi MarinMakaf, unfortunately GS doesn't support video (yet?...)

An idea round that: If your intro + outro cutscenes are not too long, perhaps convert the movie file to Quicktime and use the frames as animation.

    :-)

Edit: whoops, firemaplegames beat me to it!

    Thank you all for replies.

Please, tell me one more thing - is there something like maxium number of frames in animation in GameSalad? Or maybe maximum length of animation?

Probably just limited by memory of the device. Video takes up a LOAD of space. Then again, all of the top adventure games on iPhone are between 100-500MB so you should be fine ;)
