the actor has been unlocked double click on actor on game screen and change it there or click scene at top, click on drop arrow next to the layer its on, then double click actor and change it there
The Internet doesn't work that way. You have to have the image hosted on a server for other people to access it. The Internet doesn't have access to your desktop... at least I hope not... for your sake.
There are plenty of image hosting sites like flickr.com

Hope you all don't mind me poking my nose in here: Hi, FatalCrest: by double clicking the actor on screen displaying the text; then clicking the lock; then adding your Display Text in the Rules section; then going to Attributes>Color>Alpha; making it 0; should work. In fact, this can't fail to work! :-)
@gyroscope That should work, but I don't recommend altering actors that way if you can help it. First, if you want reuse that actor elsewhere, you have to make behaviors for it all over again. Second, if you want to make changes to all those actors, you have to find those altered actor instances and fix them all individually. Third, if you delete the prototype because you think there is nothing in there and you ignore the warning that it is in use in one or more of your scenes, you delete all the instances and you have to redo all that work.
Are you changing the alpha of the text or the alpha of the actor for actor u got to click on color on the left for text you click on color inside text behavior

Understood CodeMonkey; thank you. Then I guess the only other way would be to put a Change Attribute self.Color.Alpha to 0 in the Rules of the Instance?

Go to the kitchen, make a nice cup of tea. Watch five minutes of a ghastly soap opera. Water the flowers, make another cup of tea, then try again with a new project, just one actor, as a test to change the Instance's Alpha. If it works, which it should, compare it with your working project to see what else might be influencing it to not work. Make another cup of tea! :-)
Better still, send to CM, he'll suss it straight away for you.
If u send me the file I'll fix it and send back or upload another pic showing a little higher or try clicking revert to prototype

Just discovered that it doesn't matter if you use Change Attribute self.Color.Alpha to 0, then Display Text, in the Instance, or the Prototype. Surely the only thing that can influence it (to not be transparent) is another attribute change in Rules somewhere, changing the text-holding Actor's Alpha back to 1?

(For this one I can't show all of the screen but, this is how it looks in the upper right hand corner)
I've tried everything that I've been told on this page! I don't understand what's holding me up.
edit: cross-posting with jstrahan; hi there!

Send the project to codemonkey (at) gendaigames (dot) com and I'll take a quick look at it.
Delete the actor instance that is in the scene.
Then go to your main actor in the left pane, and click on it, change the self.coloralpha to 0
Drag and drop Display Text into that actor, and put whatever it is you want
Now drag that actor into the scene and see what happens..
Better still, send to CM, he'll suss it straight away for you.
