On average how many sales do you generate PER TEMPLATE by selling on the Gamesalad Marketplace and other 3rd party sites? (per year basis)

Are you asking how many sales per year?

To get decent sales numbers you need a large mailing list, your going the right way about it with your free template site :) but its not as easy as you think.

Sounds like your trying to build up a user base with the free stuff but theres a HUGE difference between paying customers and people who grab something for free.

Your email list is your biggest friend. Because these are the people who have decided that what you offer is valuable. Of course some of these people wont ever buy from you. (Eg I read the news letter of gshelper but would never buy from them).

If you have your free site, and request emails from them, and you show them a paid product, they won't buy it. Chances are they won't even look.

Having a great template won't sell its self. Build story behind your product, get a following, get a reputation. Nothing is going to take off from the get go usually.

Yes this worries me a little. Is your site a free resource site, or a stepping stone to paid content? I expect many of the contributors would be less eager to be involved if the site was essentially there to help you build a presence before starting a paid template site.

@DeepBlueApps @Bad wolf Guy (you should probably merge your username) @Armelline

LearnGS.com will ALWAYS be 100% FREE and is in no way a stepping stone for later selling paid content. To be honest, this poll was just for me to see if making templates would be worth my while, and if anyone really buys them. I can see how this would lead you to believe what you guys have brought to my attention, but please understand that LearnGS.com is in fact a free resource and always will be for the sole purpose of giving Gamesalad users what they want for absolutely NO cost at all! EVER :)

As long as LearnGS.com remains free and isn't filled with adverts pointing to your paid offerings, I see no conflict then. Templates can definitely be worth making, as long as you offer something the market isn't already flooded with. I'm sure you can come up with something cool :)

@Armelline Glad I could clear things up. I will have to see what I can do as far as templates. I guess it's just like the app store (or anything for that matter), you've got to stand out from the rest!
