edited November -1 in Working with GS (Mac)
GS just deleted all of the rules in one of my actors...... All of them except for one constrain.... ONE F*ck*ng Constrain!!! It saved that, but it felt it was necessary to delete everything else... Unfortunately it was one of the main characters and had several days of work in it just to get the controls perfect... No backups, no screenshots... Nothing... Any Suggestions?

:/

wow that sucks man. I'm periodically saving a backup file every hour or so to avoid situations like these.

Yes, it doesn't help you now, but as a warning to others... Save new versions OFTEN!

are you sure there isnt a prototype / instance issue

sometimes that can make rules invisible

experiment around with copying the actor as locked and unlocked etc

    worth a shot

Right, copy the actor to a clone, and check the clone out rulewise. The editor is pretty flaky sometimes, you have to kick its tires.

Thanks guys, just checked it out.. Yep all the rules are gone.. Just copied it also... Still all gone... It acts like all the rules are gone also.... Almost, as if, they were!

    Hi,

Use the Contact Us form, maybe the folks at Gendai can help.

This is not a solution but it will show the exact situation.

    Go to your game file.
    Select it and Right click.

    Choose Show Package Contents

This will show the files inside the game.

There are all the Actors in their own folder. They are just numbers and .XML files.

Take a look. I just used Quick Look.

I haven't tried but if the actor info is still there then you may be able to Copy/Paste into a new games actor's .XML file. OR maybe just copy/Paste the actor.

If the actor .XML file is empty then I think you are out of luck.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Valan, unfortunately I just finished totally rebuilding the actor, luckily I had been using this one for awhile and knew everything inside and out, just tedious :/

And now MAKE A BACKUP! Seriously before you begin working on the game just do an option click and drag to make a copy - it will give it a number and just keep working on the original.
Always do that and save before making any big changes - my general rule.

As a fellow time traveller, I LOVE Doctor Who - and this season has just been outstanding. What an ending! No spoilers(!) here though, as the Americans are a couple of weeks behind...

Still, I've been humming this tune all season, and you've given me an excuse to share! Thanks:

The writers are indeed excellent - Quite the story arc. And I notice another season of IT crowd has started - yeah!

A multi-season story arc no less!

Moffat can do no wrong in my book - and Matt Smith is just perfect for the Doctor.

And then there's Miss Pond :D
