Game size problem...

Hello!

I'm having trouble with my new game...
When i duplicate a scane (to make more levels) my game size is going up....
why? i don't add any graphic or sound, i only duplicate a scene...

For exemple my first level is done, my game size with menus, title, etc = 12Mo.
Now i duplicate my first scene, to make level 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6... now my game = 28Mo!
lol with same graphics and sounds...

Help please...

Thank you ;)

Hi sebmacfly, yes it will do. there's no logic/coding in GameSalad that "knows" that if a scene is an exact duplicate of another, to show it again the same, by-passing having to load the graphics/sounds again. It'll add the resources to the file size each time. :-(

Really? no way to by-pass that ?

Afraid not. Except to say, although I can't quite work out why you'd want identical levels, you could script some Rules to reset the game six times, when needed, all in the one level. That way you've only got one set of resources adding to the file size.

It's how some of us work! Get one level down, including rules, gameplay, all enemies, interface etc etc.

Then copy and paste so that the bare bones of each level are the same (Score in same place etc) and add and vary the content on a per-level basis :D

The file size in the lower right of the home screen is not accurate.
There is a .gsuser file that gets added to that total that is not in the published build.

The bulk of your app is the images and audio files.
The engine and Rules adds a bit, but too much.

Make a build to see the true size.

Sure thing GS, thanks; I've started doing the same as well now, for the same reason. It didn't click with me that that was the reason (er, for some reason) – sorry!

Edit: although, if it was a real prob with filesize, could fade level at end of level play, move stuff that needs to be moved to their new places, spawn new stuff if needed, then fade up for level 2, but in the same level. Few more Rules, I guess, but that way you wouldn't be duplicating resources.
