These guys offer to refund if you don't sell enough copies to cover the cost of marketing http://www.mobile-app-marketing-makeover.com/services.html

Seems you cant lose (if there genuine) but im wondering if any one here has used a company similar and if so were they any good?

Darren.

He looks to be on the line, but the cost is a bit high, in my opinion. $397 (strange amount) to pay out for a good service, but still it might take a year or more to recoup that money and start making a profit. Just my penny's (cents) worth! Something each individual would have to weigh up in their minds, I guess.

    ;-)

Looks pretty cool. I've had a few offers but haven't used any marketing companies yet.

This was a nice surprise for me as it seems if it doesn't make $397 in 30 days after the press release etc you will be refunded so nothing to lose....i guess....i think....i hope :P but then if we pay $397 and make $500 you might still argue that you have only made $103 and still demand money back so i think this would need to be clearer before any money is parted with.

"Realistically I cannot guarantee you a certain number or dollar amount of sales. Each App is so different, each with it's own potential. However, I am certain that the services I provide will increase your sales. If they don't, you shouldn't have to pay. So my guarantee is simple: Allow a full 30 days from the date I distribute your press release to determine if your sales have increased enough for you to justify paying for the service. If not, I'll refund your money. You will need to send me screenshots from iTunes Connect that show your sales just prior to my services beginning, and for that 30 days afterwards. Simple as that."

The oldest trick in the book:

"I've posted my upcoming schedule below. As you can see, I'm booked solid until the middle of next week."

So, Ed, I'm guessing you update and change the diagrams on the "book Ed" page EVERY day, unless by magic you are constantly booked until "the middle of next week".

I personally wouldn't go for this. Mainly because I can write my own copy perfectly well, thanks!

I did find this as part of his testimonials: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ipause/id309635237?mt=8

I agree, just takes a bit of time to write the press release and send it out... I'd rather pay myself $397 to do it... hell, I'll pay myself a grand... :P

I think the price for the x amount of review sites he will submit too.

No i don't think we will use it as its way too expensive as i'm still used to $50 for press release services for pc games:P

Heh - I used to get paid more than that just to write the damn things! ;)

But I think you're right. He's just charging way too much for what he provides.

And honestly, I really don't like his style.

    Cheers,

It seems like he is working off the assumption that people actually read the iTunes descriptions...

Personally, I take about 2-5 secs to do the following: look at the icon, read the app name, look at the screenshots.

If I am remotely intrigued by the above I SKIM the description and reviews. That's about it...

Very true. That really tells us how important it is to take great screenshot that are captivating and writing a compelling description. I think the other important factor is to catch the attention of apple. If you get on that featured list at the beginning or on the staff favorites, you will get a great sales boost.

This is what I like about apple that no matter what, if you make a good entertaining game. Someone will notice and will put it up there for people to see.

I've been featured in New and Noteworthy, all games as well as What's Hot. Unless you have a game with a broad appeal, this won't help a bit. Unless it's free! I had over 10k downloads on the two days it was free!!! :-D

Just glad I'm in this for the fun of it and not to make cash! LOL.

If you want some exposure, I run gameonnintendo.com and we can work something out. I get a decent amount of visitors on my site and I will post a story linking to your game if you'd like.... Just throwing it out there...

    I wouldn't charge $397 LOL....

    Just throwing it out there.

Hehe, I've had HEAPS of exposure... front page of Touch Arcade even... just that my game is very "niche", which I knew when I made it... I just love retro stuff myself :) If sales pick up, that'd be nice but I don't really care what happens dollar-wise too much, just keep plugging away at other projects ;-)

    Thanks though!
