Yosemite and GS

Hey!

I am currently on Mavericks on my laptop, GS runs for a little while then the spinning beach ball (of death!) starts showing its ugly face and I have to restart :s

I have purchased a second hand imac, in the process of upgrading its slow HDD to a SSD (myself!) and I was wondering if I should install Mavericks on it (it will be used mainly for GS development) as most people on the forums are complaining that Yosemite is just making things worse.

The imac is from mid 2011, i5, 20gigs RAM, 1GB video card, SSD.

Advise? Opinions? Rumors? Hearsay? :)
