Release date App Store

Evening guys!
I was thinking about the release date we can set in itunes connect..
If I set a date, let's say 3 weeks from now, will it be waiting for review until that date is getting closer and then go into review, or will it go into review as if the date was set 1 week from now?
P.S
I know I can do a manual release, but I was wondering about the automated release

If you set to automatically release then it will release it as soon as its approved on release date.
If you set it to manually release, it will be reviewed as normal and go into "waiting for developer release" which will release on when you click on release app.
Edit: Double checked and fixed my comment.

So to my understanding, automatic release will release the app on the date you have set in "pricing." If you click manual release, and don't manualy click the release button, your app will not be released.
For instance,
If you set your release to manual, set your release date to March 4th and your app gets approved on March 3, the app will not be available on the app store until you manually say its ok.
Where as in the same scenario you set it to automatic release, your app will be released on March 4th without you having to log in manualy release it.
Yeah this sounds right

So the app will get reviewed and approved and then just waiting to be automatically released?
The thing is, I want to be sure it's approved before promoting the date of release. So if it would be rejected for some reason, I have time to fix it and still be able to release on the date I have chosen.
