Application Loader Issue

in Working with GS (Mac)

I am in the process of uploading an app to the app store and I downloaded Application Loader. I just cant figure out what to do from this point. Everything I read seems outdated. It's actually confusing me because it seems like I need to upload just the game file and then some things seem like they are saying upload a zip folder of all my files. Can someone please help me with a step by step process or even a video?

    Publish your game in GS publishing, and download the .app file.
    Then you .zip the .app you just downloaded, and send the zipped file with Application Loader.

    To zip your file, you just right click and select compress.
