how to test iAds in GS Viewer and Preview?

Is there any way to ensure that my ad behavior will work properly when my app is on the store?

I have it set up so that it should appear at the top of the screen after 2 seconds into a scene, but there's no way for me to check if it actually works properly... Do I just need to enable iAds when I submit the app and take that leap of faith?

I wish there was a way to at least test that it appears properly, when you want it to.

doesn't it work in the viewer app?

Nope.. My guess is because there are no ads to fill the space yet.. It would be nice to have a placeholder appear, or at least something visible, like an object that says "your ad here" or something.

I'm in the US. Are you Pro? Have you tried this and got a test ad to appear?

Ah nevermind.. I tested it with another GS project and it appeared.. I'll just have to see what's going on with the one where it's not appearing.. Probably something simple and stupid I'm forgetting to do. :)

    Thanks for the help, Rob.

In the viewer I only saw a place holder with the gs logo.

Once I installed a full provisioning ipa or what some call an adhoc onto my device I got the actual apple add holder just like the official apple documentation shows.

When I click it it goes full screen and says aids is functioning properly.

It looks to be pretty safe and functional.

All I did was put an actor off screen with add behavior set to bottom and it worked. It seems to place it properly no matter where the actor is.

For in game adds I set it in a rule to only pop up when the player dies.

iAds isn't supported on the iPad yet actswartz, so don't waste your time. iAds is iOS 4.0 only, the iPad is still at 3.2 :)

Yeah, it's not working at all for me on iPad, under any circumstances.

What mulcahy said...iPad runs iOS 3.2 right now, and iAds are an iOS 4 technology, so the Show iAd behavior will do nothing on iPad.
