Immersive Games and GameSalad

I'm not much of a gamer (though I do enjoy good strategy games) but I'm very interested in using my fairly considerable skills as a writer and programmer to create immersive games a la Osmos for iPad.

Is GameSalad well suited to the creation of such games or is that genre better accomplished by more traditional and laborious means?

    Welcome, Dan.

Just watched a short vid of Osmos.

I think it's certainly possible on an iPad, as that can handle quite a bit. Older devices may suffer though (1st, 2nd gen ipod/3g iphone).

GameSalad's free to try - so why not give it a go and make up your own mind?

And welcome to the forums :D

Welcome to the community! As the sheep says, experiment with the free version and when you finally look up from you monitor to realise a year has passed without you knowing you'll be one of us and hooked.

Start off simple though! Don't blow your load on the first game as it's better to build up to 'the big one'

Thanks for the quick if somewhat hedged responses. :-)

I'm really tempted to just dive into GameSalad. It is soooooooooo seductive. I feel for the first time in three decades (yeah, I've been in the biz that long) like I could design and develop games that would be playable and fun and informative or educational experiences at the same time.
