Project GONE after 8.8 update!

edited November -1 in Working with GS (Mac)
Updated to v8.8 tried to preview game and couldn't get it to work. So then I launched v8.7 and now my game doc has no images! I only see a square with colored squelch lines! I closed xcode and just launch GS and same thing! I can open other games that I worked on in the past.

Anyone else have this problem?

Just happened to me. I open my game and everything is white boxes. Have had a few crashes with game salad tonight. Reverting to backup.

I had that problem and was quite worried.
All I did was replace the images in the library with the original image files, then everything comes back to normal.

@Shpint: Thanks! This totally worked. hassle to re-import images but at least the game is still there!

@SingleSparq: I fixed this issue but I'm curious as to what you mean by reverting to back up? How do you do this?

    Phew!
Glad you got your game back!

Until they fix this, I would make a new version of your game every hour or so - at least.

    So:

    myGreatGame1
    myGreatGame2
    myGreatGame3

Every hour do a "save as..." and up the number. That way if things ever go haywire in a file, you can go back to your previous version.

My game versions get up into the hundreds.

I lost a couple hours of work one day before I learned my lesson!

Another easy way to create backups is to leave the folder open that u save your project file in. Then select the original file & hit CMD + D. This creates a duplicate & automatically #'s it.

    My Game
    My Game Copy 1
    My Game Copy 2
    etc...

    Save a lot of time.

Sorry, didn't see you question. I back up my game constantly either with time machine doing it automatically or if I'm about to do a major change a manual backup.

Just hold option and drag your game file to make a copy, do it in the same folder and it will add a number each time. So I continue to work on the main file and have (currently) 25 versions I can go back to if needed.
