problem with wrap

I have an actor spawning randomly (call this the obstacle), and moving across the scene. When the obstacle comes in contact with the hero, it should change an attribute. The obstacle is Y-wrapping such that it allows a limited space for the hero to pass through (such as Flappy Birds). My issue is that the top portion of the obstacle (the portion extending from the top of the scene) does not trigger the attribute change, yet the bottom portion does...? I have built test games with just the actors in question and the behavior (or lack there-of) continues. Please help me find the setting or trigger I have missed.

Thanks in advance for the time and assistance. I understand that I am at the crawl phase and really appreciate your patience.

Upload the test game project file to a file-sharing site and then post the download link here.

I remember a similar problem when I made http://www.deepblueapps.com/gs-flying-fatman/ but found a way around it, if I get time and no one chips in I will have a look at my code but I remember it being pretty straight forward its just I haven't opened GS in a few weeks as I've been busy with GMStudio.

I don't know why, but the wrap function seems to only detect collisions on one side of the screen at a time. I had this issue with my doodle jump style game, if a platform wrapped from the left side to the right, only one 'side' of the platform would detect collisions. In my case I fixed it by turning off wrap and manually wrapping the player from side to side.

For the flappy bird style game I'd try turning off wrap and create separate obstacles for the top and bottom of the screen like I did here:

Here is a link to the test file.

I have solved the problem in the same manner, creating separate top and bottom obstacles, but would love to know the fix rather than the workaround.

Thanks again for the attention, all!

What a sneak way of inserting paid templates, just to say you may try to help later if you have time...
