Colors and shading in UI to reduce visual clutter

I'm currently creating a finite state machine (FSM) for my various player states and animations. Aside from a few silly mistakes it's going well. The problem, and it's not a big problem, is that when I open the rule window it ends up looking like a clutter of boxes with more clutters of boxes inside until a really focus in and read every title bar. I think adding colors and shades to the title bars may help with the visual clutter of having rules within rules rules. It's not a big problem but I thought I'd mention this and let you guys decide if it's a good idea or not.
