Hello there!

I recently installed the RC 0.14 Gamesalad creator and it worked much better than the previous 0.13.7 release. Why isn't the newer RC considered stable?

Because it hadn't been fully tested.

. . . and it has lots of bugs in, which is typical for this stage of development.

You should consider using the 0.13.12 Release. It´s quite stable and a lot faster than 0.13.7.

By the way, the 0.14 is a Nightly Build. The 0.13.12 is an RC.

0.13.12 is pretty much free of bugs, is very stable, and is entirely suitable for production use.

0.14.0 is, as @NipaDidIt says, a nightly release. It is not stable, has more serious bugs, and should be used only for experimenting with new features, not for production.

In other words, upgrade to and use 0.13.12. There's really no reason to be on an older release now.

    I agree with @Armelline.

0.13.12 is a pleasure to work with. I have worked over forty hours with it since its release with only two crashes.

Alrighty then, guess I'll have to try out 0.13.12  Thanks guys!

Without closing and dumping ram? Or do you still do this as a habit? I'm still working off 0.12.20 right now which is the last stable(ish) build.

Without closing. I get a few more crashes than @Hopscotch, but I've been doing all my work in 0.13.12, including some very large and unwieldily projects, and it's been a treat. I'd say 0.13.12 is as stable as 0.12.20, or pretty damn close, and it's noticeably faster (on Yosemite at least).

You are a crazy radical, I'm still using 12.10 !

Seriously guys, at least give 0.13.12 a chance. You're just flogging yourself if you're using 0.13.7, and you're living in the past with 0.12.10 :D

I use the 13.12 RC every day working on my next project, and only issue I get is sometimes a crash on startup and a crash quite a bit when changing scene size other then that it works great.

As a 10 hour a day user of GS I have to have it running as fast as it can for client work. Ive just held off and held off and only use 0.13.7 when clients have already made the mistake of opening it up in 0.13.7. Looks like ill make the leap based on you your advice Ted. May even finally upgrade to yosemite (gulp)

We have all made the mistake of installing "stable" versions before testing them fully. Remember 0.12? What a mess that made of projects. These "stable" versions seem to get pushed out way too soon to be classed as "stable". There always seems to be a rush to get them out to fix the last problem. Personally I just wish they would just cap the features and make a single true stable version before moving on. If we all had a stable version, we could choose to use RC if we want an extra feature rather than a fix for the last "stable" build.

It's safe here in the past ! I've watched all the horror stories of wasted hours/days/weeks constantly restarting GameSalad, taking minutes to move between windows and lasers shooting out from the screen straight at your eyes (ok, I may have made that last one up) and considered myself lucky to have never experienced any of that, GameSalad has always run perfectly smoothly for me, I can't remember it crashing in weeks, perhaps months - I never upgrade any software unless it has something enticing to offer, there has been nothing enticing since 0.12.10 (for me at least), I think my next move will be for the new rendering engine in a stable 14.1 (but only after you lot have tested it for me  ).

No closing and restarting, runs just fine for hours at a time. It is a fair sized project, 200+ actors and as many images. All the actors are really rule heavy.

Especially at this phase of the project where I am jumping around, cleaning up here, tweaking there, replacing images, etc. ... makes it a pleasure to work with a stable build again.

The first 20 hours or so were on Yosemite, without problems. Then my better half annexed that machine for some unspecified urgent matter. The last few days I have been working on Mavericks 10.9.5 on an 2011 Mac Mini. Obviously the Mac Mini is tangibly slower, but GS stays responsive over hours, so I just stuck to working on it.

About a month after the 0.13.14 release give or take a few weeks.

Oh wow! I'm still biding my time using a pencil and paper to create assets while I wait. I wonder if my iMac will start up tomorrow, better check the PRAM battery. :D
