Hello, everyone,

This new iAd feature on the iOS 4. Is it supposed to do anything to the app but to advertise other peoples apps and phone numbers?

Just curious.

Cheers, Dragokillz

The point is to provide developers with an alternative revenue source, rather than them having to sell their app. It will advertise products, movies, apps etc (but not phone numbers, not sure why you think that?!)

If you pay attention to some iAds, some say, lonely women in Australia, tap it, and you will start calling someone.

Apple determines what ads are fed to the app through iAds and IF any ads are actually fed to the app. You simply elect to allow Apple that choice. In exchange...Apple pays you 60% of the ad royalties.

However, unless you app has 10s of 1000s of downloads or ranked in the Top 1000 overall...you probably won't see any ads in your app (or royalties).

Typical ads might be cars, movies, electronics, etc.

I do think that if any ad starts to call someone, then the user should be asked if s/he wants to call that person.

Just because they are live in the US surely can't limit where they call? Just makes the company more money?
