Why didn't Apple use 720p on the iPhone 6 and save us a lot of trouble?

I mean even at 720p the dpi is well over 300.
Why didn't Apple use that resolution and save the developers some serious headache?

What is the headache ?
because 720p is a stone-age resolution?
To be honest, it is to keep the same ppi as the iphone 5 and iphone 4. only the 6+ has a higher pixel density.
What theory?
No this is not really a theory... 4,7 inch with a 720p display would have pixel density of 305. which is even less then the iphone 5. Why would apple release a phone with a shittier resolution?
Apple's plans to buy paracetamol (being a generic drug, this would be a little like Apple buying citric acid or insulin ).
@GH@ST 42 sorry I pointed to the wrong person haha. @Socks sounds pretty sweet
Apple bought Top Gear to boost the sales of paracetamol.
Looking at your posts made today, you don't really make sense in anything...

it's actually 312 ppi if it were 720p, I bet you couldn't spot the difference between 312 and 326 ppi, Hell my brother's Xperia T2 ultra is at 244 ppi and it looks as good as if not better than my Xperia Z1's 441 ppi.
What would be the advantage of the slightly lower resolution ?
easier unified development for all platforms
If you have a system in place to make your game/app fit on multiple screen sizes, it shouldn't be much more work to fit 750px vs 720px... Or really most standard aspect ratios.

If the question is then "Why didn't Apple use 720p on the iPhone 6 so we could more easily transfer our work over to other non-Apple platforms" I think the answer would be that this is of no interest to them (commercially).
