Hello.
My first post here. I'm not new to game dev, but fairly new to iPhone/iPad dev. I've been working with pure code for a while, but wanted a way to test game ideas quickly on a real device, so thought GameSalad may be worth a try. But, before I purchase I have some questions if that's ok?
So far I've only played one game on the iPad made in Gamesalad, I can't afford to download every one to test, but am willing to buy a few. The game I tried was incredibly buggy and had incredibly long loading times. I wonder if this is a common Gamesalad issue, or specific to individual games? Collisions were poor, sprites disappearing from the screen etc happened regularly, it made the game unplayable. I understand this developer may not have been too clever with reduced sprite sets, texture sizes etc, but it still raised concerns.
If I purchase the $99 license, do I then need to purchase anything else in order to publish my game to the app store? I've googled this and it seems many people are having this same lack of understanding? I've read the site, I'd just like confirmation on the $99 being the total cost per year aside from the Apple Dev costs.
So far has anyone had any issues with 'that' Apple clause meaning anything not written with Apple's API's is banned from sale? Is GS moving toward more Obj-C code sets and away from Lua etc?
Thirdly, can anyone (this relates to my first question) suggest some games to download and test made in GS? I'd go with what's on the GS site, but I'd prefer to use games that end users think are great.
Thanks, and sorry for the long post. I'll get around to my intro on the next one

For games on the iPad I would suggest Star Daze HD (Made by TShirtBooth), and Stunt Squirrels! HD (Made by FireMapleGames). Your issue with the game may have been from a less experienced dev, and I can assure you that some really slick games have been made with GS (as above).
The $99 license is all you need to pay GS-wise for a year of dev.
It has been widely discussed regarding the terms of the Apple Dev contract, and we have been informed by Gendai that GS is fine (apparently confirmed by Apple).
Hope that answers your questions

As much as I know about coding practice - if that's the term - in particular relating to Gendai, I doubt they are moving toward Objective-C code to write the GS app. But I could be wrong (as I often am!) Although the core of it is possibly written in that anyhow...

Welcome and good luck to you - there are many outstanding GS games, sorry that whatever you got had some issues.
I will start my first iPhone game soon, do you have friends, some tips?
Thanks!!!
Thanks.
What ever you decided to do, good luck. If you stick with GameSalad, welcome!

@isaacber - ak47 fully loaded and ready to ... oh sorry, wrong topic. ha. There are lots of tutorials now, certainly a lot more than what there was when i started. Tshirtbooth has some great tutorials as does one of our younger members - weswog. Heres a link to his youtube channel, you should find plenty in there to get you going;
