Where to start with my idea

So, first thing first. I am completely new, and completely crap. I want to get started on what I (hope) is a simple(ish) project. I was hoping to make a sort of super simple 2D pokemon snap sort of game. There is no player character. You have a large, panoramic background that you can scroll left and right by swiping, and creatures appear randomly depending on player input. I was hoping to make baits or something that you can place that might increase their frequency of appearance. Finally, while they are out, you can take little snapshots which are stored in an in-game album.

I know that's not a question, per se, but it seems like every "tutorial" is based on templates, and I can't seem to find a template that could be even sort of applied to this kind of no-jumping, no-shooting sort of gameplay. Any ideas of where to get started on making this project happen?

Thanks everyone!

I'm a complete beginner. The "tutorials" seem to just be templates, though.

@ktoast I think you should start by understanding gamesalad logic , thats how i did it in the begining , its on youtube just type gamesalad logic , uploaded by gamesalad guru , he did a great job explaining all you need to know about attributes and so on. once you understand it it will make everything easier for you, im just telling you to start from there cause you really need to understand what your doing first so that if you face any problem in the future such as a bug in your game you will be able to adjust it by yourself , and if you had any problems with programming you will know what to ask for. i strongly suggest you start from there. Hope it helps you

    All quite possible.

Learn the basic workings of GameSalad and you will soon see how best to approach something like this this, your language suggests you are already ahead of the curve, when I started I was thinking 'why actor no do thing ?'
