Kids app rejected for the 5th time due to Metadata!

BalvamarBalvamar Member, PRO Posts: 117

This is driving me crazy.

24.1 Details

You have selected the Kids Category for your app, but it does not include the required privacy policy.

Next Steps

Please update your app metadata to include a privacy policy URL and ensure that the URL you provide directs the user to your privacy policy.

We are unable to proceed with the review of your app until this issue has been addressed.

If you have any questions about the information provided, please reply to this message and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

The metadata in itunes connect is correct and takes you to our privacy policy, which is embedded in our website. The is a button within the app, with a parental gate that also takes you to our privacy policy. I simply do not understand what I have to do to correct this problem, and Apple does not elaborate, but just keep rejecting us. If anyone can suggest what I need to do it would be much appreciated.

It's Apple... rejecting apps with no reason is what they do.

I had an app rejected, then submitted the app again (EXACTLY THE SAME) and it was approved.

Seriously, it is REALLY hard to get a straight answer from them so I feel your pain. Have you checked up on the apple developer boards to see if other people had that issue and if so what they did to correct it?

All kids apps require a privacy policy which can be viewed by users of the app. You will have to create a website and then put a privacy policy page on it. You then need to paste the link in the Privacy Policy field when you submit the app. (you dont need it within the app itself)

Here is one i did for my children apps. never had any issues with apple since i had it.

That's cool. BTW there is a typo in the first line: "expect" should be "except"... damn auto correction! ;)

We have a page embedded on our website, and the link is in the meta data privacy policy url in iTunesConnect.

I feel I am being treated so unfairly by apple. Honestly, I just don't know how to fix this! it is really upsetting me :(

@Balvamar have you asked Apple? You can send a private PM to the reviewer after rejects asking why your app was specifically rejected. Also file an appeal. They will not give you a detail reason why until you ask them about it.

I don't know why it is that way as they should give you the details more clearly the first time.

Good luck with the review process. :)

Thanks all, I have filed an appeal, and messaged the reviewer, am awaiting a response. I appreciate the support. Getting rejected multiple times really does damage to my enthusiasm.

I think it might well be the first line of your privacy policy that they don't like. It seems to be saying if you want details of our privacy policy contact us.

The sad thing is that although YOU do not collect any information, basically all of this info is being collected trough your app. That's probably not the reason for the rejection but still good to know in case someone calls you on your privacy policy. I've had problems with this in kid's apps in the past.
