I really don't care how many shitty apps come out and I really don't care what other people do either.
Shitty apps sink right into the bottom anyways. They don't get in the way. What gets in the way are the tons of great apps that have thousands of hours of development.
At the risk of sounding negative am I one of the only ones who can admit most my stuff doesn't sell because it isn't that great and I don't market it?
Not because of what someone else is doing.
Sure there are some great GS games but let's be honest with ourselves. You can't expect to make a tap to make the thing disappear game in 3 days, slap it up there and then whine when it doesn't sell.
There are tons of simple games some good some bad and a lot rip offs. IE veggie samurai > fruit ninja
Now.... I know people get worked up when a simple knock off game sells but let's face it these guys aren't making as much money as you think. Let's use FN for example again. I can't go to a website without seeing an add for it. I bet that guy has to sell at least a thousand a day before he sees profit.
I think you need a great game or at least an ok game with some hard work, sacrifice and marketing to be successful
Complaining about duck hunt knockoffs tainting the GS name and ruining your sales won't help at all..... Not one bit.
Also let me officially say not having iads isn't ruining your income either.
I've now seen over 10k in add requests and made 6 bucks.

I think people really need to focus on success and researching how to succeed and worry a little less about the person next to them is doing.

HAHAHAHAHA!
People have a right to be upset when they see knock offs like Duck hunt selling well, especially when it's an injustice to Gamesalad, but a line should be drawn as to when too much complaining is just... too much.
Focus on making your games 1,000% better, and setting the bar higher each time you make a new app.
Oh yeah, I have to finish my book!
So, I'll write this quickly...
Is a complaint about complaining really productive? This thread doesn't change my opinion. I think there's a legitimate grip about the cost of a "Pro" license. Not only would my games probably be more successful, A lot of people here think that Gendai Games would generate more revenue if they priced their product more intelligently. $1999 is a lot of money at once.
I'm working hard, making plans, trying to do better. I might even spend $1999 on a pro license. Yet, I think the community is right to rant about Pro. It's just too expensive.
lol as y ou pointed out that post was a complaint of sorts.
I am specifically referring how much effort some folks put into trying to find an excuse for why they are having bad luck in the app store rather than examining their own efforts or just accepting some of it is just luck.
I think when someone is frustrated its easy to point the finger.
Be upset about duck hunt because ripping something off is a poser move, not because it is directly effecting sales.
Be upset that 2k for pro is lame just because it's lame. Not because Gendai is blocking your only possible chance to make an untold fortune in the app store.
Take Sheep for example. His duck hunt hating doesn't bother me at all. He's pissed about duck hunt but i think he along with many others are big boy enough to know they are responsible for their own sales.
All im saying is there is money to be had and working hard is the only way to have a small chance at getting some of it.
I agree with the general theme. Hard work is how you can make your own success. Yet, then I see stories like Jungle Bug. It shows that the system is not always fair. (Ha, although, a buyout offer of $1250 is a lot more than I've seen doing this.)
If it were as simple as someone making more money from a rip off than a real developer is making with their own apps, then I'm pretty "eh" about it. I understand it, but that isn't what bothers me.
When someone likes to gloat about making money from ripping off another person's work though, that bothers me.
That said, when they eventually get screwed it IS very, very satisfying - so perhaps it's worth it in the end :P
Still, I'm with the Sheep. ^-^;
That said - I DO think there are more important things to complain about at present; like getting the App Loader working. >.<'
But I'm glad you see it for what it is, mate!
I wrote a long post, but I've deleted it now. It's like pissing into the wind sometimes, eh?
