INKSCAPE issue

CaptFinnCaptFinn Member Posts: 1,828

I am creating my images in inkscape. Inkscape has a default dpi of 90. If I create a background image to be used in my game. And I create it at 1080x1920. When exporting its default dpi is 90. But GS requires 72. If I drop it to 72. the 1080x1920 becomes 922x1638. How can this be fixed. anyone here use inkscape?

I found a workaround. Take what you need and multipy it by 1.25 That way when you choose 72dpi. It will drop it to the dimension you want.

    Example: you need 1080x1920

Create a image 1350x2400. Then when you export it as 72. it will make it 1080x1920

Plus running them thru tinypng makes them 72. So im good.

You will lose quality doing it this way as it will have to interpolate the image.

Just export at 90ppi - the ppi makes no difference to quality, image size or anything other than a tiny bit of metadata.

A 1080x1920 image at 90ppi is identical to a 1080x1920 image at 72ppi . . . just make sure your actor is 1080x1920 and apply the picture to it, whether it is 3,000ppi, 90ppi or 4ppi will make no difference.

so why does GS want your images to be 72dpi?
