RP.(Roleplay) is it allowed?

I just have a question. Rp,also known as Roleplay, is it allowed in Game Salad? And if it is then would anyone care to RP with me?

    Was going to google "Role Play," thinking maybe it meant something other than what I thought. I decided it was a NSFW subject so I decided to not look it up on my work computer.....That is all.

    Although that's true you may be jumping to conclusions here cause who knows what the original poster meant (could be something completely harmless and probably is).

    Role-Playing is not always pervy or adult per say. It can be whatever really. Lets say i name myself a vampire hunter from the 1800's , i would then act and speak like one would in those times. So pretty much pretend that i am this vampire hunter from the 1800's. I believe thats what the OP was referring to when he asked if anyone else role plays.

    Edit: It was really popular back in my Everquest days, there was servers dedicated for that kind of stuff.

    I know the term but thought there could be other meanings to it also. I'm all for "innocent until proven filthy" (even though the reverse may be the case here ;) )

    It would help if he was more specific. I was kind of a creepy request on it's face. I believe people pretending to be things they are not happens on this forum already.. :#

    Maybe its just been lost in translation... maybe Qwest4Life was simply asking if GS is capable of making role playing games and asking if anyone would be interested in working on one with them...??

    Its an international community, and not everyone has a good level of English. I'd hate to see what garbage I'd come up with if i tried to communicate in most other languages :)

    ...then again... it could just have been the bizarre request that people have assumed :neutral:

    Why do you want to RolePlay on the Gamesalad forum? There are websites that are made for RolePlaying, the Gamesalad forum isn't one of them.
    Or if you are making a RolePlaying game and wondering if Gamesalad is capable of making that particular game, I see no reason why you make that game. But that depends on what your game would be like, coding, types of images, etc. If so you can provide some more details and we here on the forum can help.

    This is very common. Just like any other interest. He/she wants to be able to role-play in a thread.
    Nothing creepy here. Think of this question as the same as someone asking if anyone is into baking cupcakes, or anything else. If you have the same interest, you will pile in and discuss it.

    Qwest, I would say go ahead and start. If people see it and want to take part, cool. If nobody shows up, cool. I am sure you are prepared for some to question, and am sure you will just roll with it. (People may see how creative you are and come asking for opinions)

    Yep. Don't know if anyone will want to RP based on the confused repsonse. But go for it so long as it's the SFW kind of RP. :wink:

    I still think it's stuff like this that makes GS look juvenile from a developers standpoint and we wonder why Gamesalad doesn't get taken seriously. i have no issue with it, to each their own but this doesn't help gamesalad' reputation.

    Well he just have passion for RP , and he asked in a respectful manner , it was just a question, maybe he thought since this is about games that it might have people interested in RP , but I guess he got the answer. I just hope you don't make him feel uncomfortable just for asking a simple question :)

    What about my comfort? The way the question was posed initially made me very uncomfortable. Do I get to be uncomfortable and does that count for anything around here?

    Your right @The_Gamesalad_Guru I'm with you, I don't like the idea of RP in this forum, and it would make me feel like i'm not in a serious game developing forum but since he asked in a respectful way, I think its better to just tell him why it is not a good idea to do it here.

    @The_Gamesalad_Guru you could also think of it as maybe bringing in new developers who find that they can have a place to develop games and take part in their hobby all in the same place.
    TBH, if you ever run across it in a forum and are not familiar with what is going on, you will generally feel like you walked into a video game discussion but missed something. RP is pretty big (think cosplay). Like any other 'group of people', if they are comfortable and feel accepted, they will stay and be a part of the community

    Who cares if someone wants to spend their time playing a 'game.' That is on them. I personally see it more beneficial to say, work on my games or waste time watching youtube videos.

    Yes believe it or not i can be uncomfortable too. I am after all a human being too. especially when there are young people on this forum and as a parent i have that instinct of mistrust of people on the internet.

    I could see if someone asked for personal information. I would be weary of anyone giving that out on here. Because the way he/she worded the question I didn't take it as a request for someone to perform deviant acts.

    In my first comment I merely stated that me looking up "Role Playing" was NSFW because of what it 'could' stand for. Only the OP knows what they meant. Their words just fell upon biased ears. You don't have to allow wool to be placed over your eyes, but at the same time you can't assume the worst of someone especially on such vague circumstances.

    It's a developer forum and you are asking people to role play with you? If you ask me this is not the place for it. If you are looking people of the same with the same interest/s there are sites designated for that. We are pretty much about using gamesalad and making games here.

    What kinda bothers me is you asked this question to everyone July 4th and you PMed me today the 15th this afternoon with the same question. I'm not sure what your intentions here on this site are (maybe you should make that clear), but it's kind of odd behavior. Are you here to do game development or what exactly?
