Answered Thanks Lovejoy. What is the purpose of the Download App Button in the GS publishing portal?

Thunder_ChildThunder_Child Member Posts: 2,343

2 days ago I think it was I ran a build through the GS portal to adhoc test. I accidentally deleted the file I was working with. SO, I went to the GS publishing portal and clicked the Download App Button as I remember that was suppose to allow me to get my last project I published with. Yesterday I Updated my GS version....I assume because I updated I can't now read the project? anyway to get passed this Id really like to get that file...it even says.gameproj

I think you're trying to get your uploaded projects right?
I think you do that by clicking on "History" at bottom left
then "GameProj Versions" and then select a zip file to download.

Is that what you're looking for?

That download app button i think downloads the generated apps which are either for the ios or android.apk files i don't think it lets you download your GS game projects from there.

It downloads a version of the game project file from what I understand.

Basically a way to get backup copies of your projects from your uploaded library if you somehow manage to lose it from your hard drive or migrate to a new computer. I remember it being announced as a feature a while back.

Im assuming it depends on whether the last published upload was done via a nightly, or a stable release as to what the projectile file will be that is recoverable.

Download app is for downloading unsigned copies of the published app. this is used for Mac apps or androidapps that you want say Amazon to sign for you not so much for iOS

It's been a while, but I remember when I published my first iOS game, made using Xcode rather than a game engine (GameSalad wasn't even available then), the signing process for Apple was quite different to what it is today. I don't really remember, but I'd assume the Download app button (not download project) served a purpose back then. Maybe?

That's what I was under the impression of but I think...haven't been able to try yet is @Lovejoy answer. I found a "step back" build phase on my Mac...thank goodness I do keep those but hopefully I find the latest via his method. About a weeks work :-( possibly lost on my own fault.

Update. You download the actual project you ha e uploaded...latest...up top next to "remove"...the download app button is as @The_Gamesalad_Guru stated and below is the same as the download app button...but a history of those project generated files.

Here is where you download your latest uploaded project.
