    Yes, they now have paid subscription plans.
    You can read about it here:

    business is business i guess... to be honest it was almost too good to be true that i could create what i wanted to for free and live my dreams of being a game designer out to the fullest... but @dgackey will you guys be doing contest or anything for those that cannot afford it? (obviously they may not be game desgining competitions) but something that allows us "broke folk" lol to still be able to have a chance at having gamesalad?.. this is actually the best forum online and community that i have EVER contacted in my life... and i dont want to be away from gamesalad for a long time because i do not want to forget all of what i learned considering i may not be able to be apart of the community anymore? Pro users have nothing to lose but for us common folks who have learned from countless youtube tutorials or getting advice from some of the supreme people on the forum... i just dont want to lose all of what i learned over 30 dollars a month.

    @digitalzero

    The forums will always be free to use. Right now the best option for students is the Studica $149 subscription, which works out to about $12.40 a month, but we'll be chatting about a possible option for the basic plan too.

    Another option is to encourage your school to license the software -- our institutional licensing terms are very, very affordable ;)

    Studica is our education reseller and they handle the verification of Student ID's for us, but the product and service and everything else is coming directly through GameSalad ;)
