Free vs Paid vs Pay to unlock free

Can we release a game free with 1 level. User pays to unlock rest of levels?

What are the scenarios that work and don't work with apple these days?

    You can. Just create a IAP to unlock the rest of the levels.
    Personally I don't think 1 level will be enough to make people pay for unlocking the rest (if we're not talking about a whole "world")

    My experience is that it's very hard to get people to pay for anything actually. Remove ads seems to work pretty good though.
    It all comes down to volume in the end.
    We just need to keep pushing out apps :)

    @FINNBOGG In app purchases will do the trick. But like @Dues said, people barely pay for for additional levels or the full games after they already played it.

    Hmmmm so you're one of those who is spamming the appstores:P? Just kidding, although I love to see developers who take a long time too build a great game rather than pushing out everything they can in a short period of time.

    We're going to switch back to straight paid for our next game we are working on.

    I tried that for my latest game. Actually went better then I thought :)
    Think it's well worth a try when you have a polished game.
