Certificate problems (aka kill me now)

So looking up anything having to do with certificate issues always brings me to pages that are years out of date which have broken links, vague answers (like "just do _____") and is generally just not workable.

I tried updating my viewer today and it said "Unable to find a team with the given Team ID '2G99HQ7LZZ' to which you belong. Please contact Apple Developer Program Support.
https://developer.apple.com/support"

The error listed was: "Code Sign error: No code signing identities found: No valid signing identities (i.e. certificate and private key pair) matching the team ID “2G99HQ7LZZ” were found."

Any ideas? Or should I just redo everything having to do with certificates?

Looks like you didn't search enough, and even then, old tutorial show you this step.

Yes, I can see that. I had searched for a while, I just must not have used the right wording, so I started thinking it was a certificates problem and started messing with those. I certainly never saw an image like that, I'd read things that said to go to "general" but I was looking in the wrong place, like the preferences pane etc. Now it's all fine.

Pleased you got sorted The forum search is pretty hopeless and as you found your problem was in an area full of very generic terms "code signing" "certificate" etc. Also these kind of details can change subtly often so old tutorial videos although basically still relevant are based on content that may be visually quite different.
