He who makes the gold.........

Ok Im not here to troll or agitate anything. Im simply going to voice my opinion on something. It has to do with the GS community at large.

GS is a nice tool. It has struggled and continues to struggle. But it has slowly and continues to make improvements upon itself. There has been a huge dedication to the Dev Team and the other departments, to make GS what it is. But in saying that..... Im seeing something with in the forum that is being ignored. And a closure to a recent conversation and other similar to it. Is a example of what Im referring to.

If it was not for the 3rd party assistance " free or otherwise ". GS would not be where it is today. Without this forum and the people within it. GS wouldn't be here. The GS website isn't what keeps people here. Its the fact that knowing that help from this forum is here. Users know they dont have to depend on GS office personnel to get the answers or fixes they need. People within this forum have from day one provided things that the GS office could not.

These things coming from the forum and not the office. Tremendously assisted the GS office in having more time to work on other things. The people in this forum and their contributions within the forum, save GS alot of time. Academy? before gamesalad put a graduation cap on the salad bowl. The academy was the forum. Before the marketplace, the marketplace was the forum. Wether it be free stuff or not. And as much as I hate workarounds...... But if it weren't for the people with in the forum creating workarounds. GS would still be in the real "beta" phase. The forum has many facets within itself, that if not for them GS would not be at the level it is today. So before you censor people for whats being said in the forums. Remember its the people that make the forum. Its the usefulness that come from these people that keeps the forum alive and kicking.

It was not the GS website and video that had me come to GS. it was tshirtbooth and his teaching methods that brought me here. it was the helpful hands from the forum that kept me here. It was asset packs and videos and user made demos that kept me here. If I had to fully depend on the GS office. I and I feel safe to say, many others wouldn't be here. GS office maybe the headquarters. but "WE" the people of the forum are Gamesalad. And if not for a small group of major players with in the forums. There wouldn't be a user base for there to still be a Gamesalad.

This is one big family. And I strongly feel that censoring someone. Could sometimes do more harm than not censoring. Some of these people are the reason you have users, and also the reason you keep them.

Simply put. The forum is the root of Gamesalad. It leads to all the info one needs. Kill the roots..Kill the tree. Just think where GS would be today if they had not created a forum.

@FINNBOGG, you are quite right, a strong community does carry a product.

It is just as true that without a great product, there would not be a dedicated following, organising themselves into a strong community.

This is not unique to GS, you find this with any popular product. The manufacturer gives the basic "User Manual" and the community comes up with weird and wonderful ways of creatively abusing it, supporting each other and sharing.

Regarding censorship, I think GS is quite lenient. They do step in when the issue is predominantly a personal matter between two people, best dealt with privately. They do not censor any of the brutal critique so often directed towards them.

Just think where we would be if we did not have GS to keep us off the streets. :)
