I told you this all started because i couldnt make remarks. So my question was "why". And until I got an answer I was determined it was because they don't want people like me to stir the pot. If that doesn't satisfy you curiosity toward my animosity. I don't know what to tell ya.
You are addressing a different point now, Lol My question wasn't about your 'animosity', it was about why a company might want there to be confusion over their guidelines (specifically, use of branding), but I can't force you to share the reasoning behind your theory, it will just have to remain mysterious.
Holy do-do poo-poo a lot of people need to take a lesson in trademark, trademark law and the responsibility of companies to protect their trademark. Literally nothing GameSalad has done is out of the ordinary.
All this fuss. Let's take a look at the two main examples here:
A company promoting it's products using GameSalad branding without permission/. A clear, flagrant violation of trademark law. Try doing that with any other company and see what happens. Go on.
A user building a brand using a companies trademark. Also a flagrant violation. One that GameSalad applied some common sense to and has given written permission for him to continue using. But just go try make a company called "The_Google_Guru" or something. You'll get slapped down so hard you won't know what's hit you.
This is all absurd. GameSalad have done nothing out of the ordinary, and nothing outside of their rights.
The assumption people have of their right to use company names and logos is absurd.
You want to make a game using GameSalad and put "Made with GameSalad" on your webpage? Of course that's okay! You want to put "A GameSalad game" and imply it's an official GameSalad game? Of course that not okay!
Try making an add-on for iPhone and calling it "An Apple Add-on". See how long that lasts you.
Common sense required here, and seems to be severely lacking.

Your right it's not a good practice. So why have they been practicing it that way for so long???????
Different management. This really isn't all that complex.
Yes, it's biting them in the ass now, with all these deliberately provocative posts. But what they're doing now is 100% reasonable, in line with the law, and sensible for them to start doing.
Let me also say I voluntarily removed my things as I realized I was or could potentially in the future be in violation. Game salad did not force or ask me to remove them. I did that for my own protection and to acknowledge their rights. I always believed game salad had every right to do what they did. At the beginning some folks misunderstood my position. Some thought I was supporting DBA or taking sides there. I plainly said several times I was not. I don't really know any of the parties other than some crossing paths on the forum et.. I never challenged game salad's right to their name logo et.. I suddenly realized I was in violation, as harmless as my intentions were, I was still in violation and I didn't want to be living off the kindness of others as that can be fickle. So I removed my videos, for which had atleast 4 violations including my forum name which just started as a joke. I have no real attachment to the name, heck call me Joe if you want, I'm still me. I was accused of being silly and after all the facts were brought out, it was proven I was not silly if I desired the future option of doing something with MY material other than free in the future. I didn't see how wanting to control my own work was silly but there it is. I'm still not sure if I'm going to change my name back or even go to my studio name "Lost Oasis Games" Once I get the proper paperwork for my videos I will be making them public again. There is still much I haven't decided.
@FINNBOGG ...As @Socks said...this has been brought about mostly due to GameSalad re-evaluating their priorities and where they want to focus their resources. The Marketplace obviously wasn't viable for them to have to manage... so they offloaded it/partnered up with one of the 3rd party markets. Fully understandable.
Sadly, through partnering with one site, they then saw the need to get serious about competing marketplaces... which again is kind of understandable... but which led to the situation with DeepBlueApps, forcing them away from GameSalad, even though they've been big players in supporting and promoting the software for many years. Doesn't look like a great move, played out publicly...
Its business politics... something that GameSalad has always been awful at, regardless of who the current CEO is...
Its not great... and sad for it to play out like this... and in many ways could have been avoided or handled much better... but easy to understand how its ended up here.
@FINNBOGG ...You seem to just be arguing it out though for the sake of it....

Because recently GSHelper has partnered with GameSalad as the official asset store - before that I expect it was less of a concern.
ok basically I'm just not happy with the way things are turning out. Hate to see dedication and free help get shafted.
