Thank you all for your kindness

Over the last couple days I've received messages and Emails from all over the globe. It is truly a humbling experience to see how many people gained value from my simple videos. Here is an excerpt from an Email from someone in Asia that was very touching.

"However, it is deeply sad that you are no longer making Gamesalad tutorial video anymore. You are really the best tutorial video maker for me because your video is 100% kind and easy to understand. I wish you could make more tutorial video for us. Thank you Guru san!"

My reason for making videos was a simple one, I am dyslexic. For a dyslexic, written material is a nightmare. Many dyslexics grow up believing they are stupid, as was the case with me. As I began having opportunities to work with my hands, and explore learning by doing, I found I wasn't stupid at all. Once I discovered how I learned, I was able to teach myself lots of stuff.

When I discovered game salad Tshirtbooth's videos were invaluable for my learning style. As one with a learning obstacle, you learn working very hard is part of the process. You discover it will sink in if you keep at it and not give up, unless, of course, you just have no talent for the craft you are studying.

Once t-shirt left, I wanted to keep those videos going for others like me, who learn best by watching. So I started making videos and with my background in video and film production, decided to step up my game. I stepped up my game because I knew for me, a soothing voice and clear instructions were the type of tutorials I enjoyed watching the most and got the most out of.

Having had even this little amount of time off, I have come to realize how much pressure I was putting on myself. I've always been my own toughest critic. The amount of time that goes into making a video and all the research, tests, retakes et..take lots of time. I always wanted to have the right answer for people. I took helping people seriously and gave it my all. This does overtime, as I now realize take a toll on you. These last couple days have been most enjoyable and relaxing. Gone is the nagging pressure to; study and make a video on a needed subject, or to figure out an issue, or workaround for the software.

I truly care about this community but I do as well have a life of my own and another career. I love being creative and making games and its great to be back to that. In being the Guru, I forgot how much I really love it and how much cool stuff @RP and I were doing.

It's now up to you to forge your destiny in game making and in keeping this community great. All the resource material is out there. Read it, study it and work damn hard and you can make it. Sit back and relax and let others do it for you and you'll only go so far as at some point you're going to have to do it yourself.

Thank you all for your kindness. It hasn't been lost on me at all!

Knowing how much work making tutorial videos is I can say I completely understand. Thinking you are stupid is something hard to overcome and I am happy you succeeded. I thought I wasn't good at math for a long time because I was bad at it in school but Game Salad made me realise it was the education system, not me. There you can see how GS helped both of us. You are a great guy with a great character. A strong personality can lead to friction but i have nothing but respect for your person.
Make some great games and have fun doing it. Looking forward to see your work in the future!

@Lost_Oasis_Games all the best with the new found direction.

A personal thank you for the dedication you brought through the years. It definitely was a help to me when I started. Yes, it is hard work and time consuming, something which often goes underappreciated.

Thanks for the videos, Dave. I know firsthand how much time it takes to do a simple 5 minute tutorial - you've contributed not only a lot of content to this community, but a heck of a lot of time, too.

Glad to see you're sticking around and really looking forward to playing your games!
