tl:dr: "fully supporting Android" is functionally impossible. The feature request to add expansion files has been noted and is on our radar.

With respect to the Windows Phone image, I suspect this was a mistake on the part of our artist, and simply wasn't caught by anyone. You'll note that we never talk about Windows Phone anywhere on our site because we do not support Windows Phone.

Again, if you'd like to take up your concerns with the team, the way to do it is with the help icon.

    Thanks!

Shame on you for pointing out their flaws in public. We can't have that.

Yes, it is well known that we tolerate no public airing of criticism here on the GameSalad forums. :)

@dgackey, it may be an HTML5 game running on Windows phone, downloaded from the Amazon app store.

I'm struggling to understand the point of posting this image repeatedly. It seems to be some sort of thinly-veiled implication that we are trying to mislead people into purchasing the software, but that doesn't make any sense, because:

    a) We offer a free trial

    b) We REMOVED the requirement that you needed to purchase a year in advance

    c) The idea that we would put up a device that we don't support in order to "get more users" would only make sense if the device in question was a huge untapped market. But:

    d) The desire for Android expansion file support is certainly an understandable feature request. But to imply that we're falsely advertising our ability to publish to Android because of the lack of this feature? I just don't think that argument holds water.

I doubt you guys did it intentionally but you also must remember we out here don't know you guys from adam. So tin foil hats are required.

It's not that, it's just that when people think "android" generally they think Google Play, since it is by default the true "app store app" of the platform.

Any 50mb plus game cannot be put on Google Play, that cuts off most games of substance. So in that sense, for a large user base of Gamesalad, you can't really publish to android proper.

Amazon app store is nice, i'm glad you keep that supported. But it's really only nice for kindle line android, a small chunk of the pie. It should be secondary to the play store which is most of the pie.

So the claim is highly conditional, which I could totally see leaving a sour taste for a new users thinking they can publish to ALL or even most of android.

Even if device fragmentation is a thing (it is), mostly that comes down to the developer of the game fitting the resolution/aspect ratio of what THEY want to hit. You have already given us the tools to do this. OS version isn't much concern since targeting old device is not best practice. So you just put a minimum OS option (you have one of these for us all well).

You should link charts of shared aspect ratios and shared chipsets, that's a better way to see fragmentation, since that's what really matter (doesn't look nearly as dreadful that way).

The point is, "technically" you are right that you support android.

Just not very well at all, to the point where people feel lied to.

That's not a good thing, android expansion files shouldn't be a "feature" we request. It should be a given.

    And "technically" you support HTML5.
Just not very well at all, to the point where people feel very disappointed.

GS seems to be headed in the right direction, but ultimately it all comes down to trust.

@Lost_Oasis_Games would html5 be another topic to put the tinfoil hat on or is it legitimate?

if we had native html5 exporting we could support windows phone ;)

I think i remember reading somewhere about some Guru guy saying there is some type of redirect in place that doesn't allow exporting.

When you publish out with tizen in the folder with the app is an html 5 file and associated folders. If you double click the index.html it comes up in your browser. But once you put it on a server it redirects to the gs site. You can only use it as a file in browser not as htttp.

Beware though it also puts out a sonic pulse that makes you quack like a duck.

I swear I remember them saying they removed the redirect, but I never tested it. Could be Wishful thinking I guess :)

Been a while since I tried it out. But if it's true then you have true html 5 publishing through tizen. I do remember there were some issues with sound types. I had luck with wav.
