Realistic Platformer game

I'm trying to make a more-realistic platformer game in GameSalad. It has an example one, but there is waay to much sliding, and jumping isn't that great. I want to make one where the actor goes at a steady speed, and doesn't continue to slide when the user lifts their finger or key. I tried playing around with the different physics, but just can't get it right. Is there anyone who would want to point me in the right direction, or perhaps even make an example? Thanks so much in advance!
