Realistic Platformer game

I'm trying to make a more-realistic platformer game in GameSalad. It has an example one, but there is waay to much sliding, and jumping isn't that great. I want to make one where the actor goes at a steady speed, and doesn't continue to slide when the user lifts their finger or key. I tried playing around with the different physics, but just can't get it right. Is there anyone who would want to point me in the right direction, or perhaps even make an example? Thanks so much in advance!

    yeah i am also having trouble with jumping in mine so a tutorial would be extremely useful.

    yeah im working on a platformer too, firemaplegames, PLEASE continue your toturial, its awesome right now :D will u make the seek peek available for download? i think it would help alot of us! please plz plz :>

    @hanso: Thanks! I will continue them when I get some time. Right now I am am cranking away at my new game. Unfortunately the Sneak Peek totally broke during the 0.8.6 update. I haven't had a chance to dig into it and see why...
